Making Access to Work Accessible
We’re here to solve two problems. The first is finding a support worker that understands the complexities of being a neurodivergent entrepreneur. That’s the easy one fixed – You’re right here!
But the second is a huge pain point for many, and that’s cash flow and funding. In most cases, you’re offered funding, but you need to pay for the expenses yourself. This can be off-putting and provide significant hardship.
But did you know that your support worker can claim on your behalf, ensuring you aren’t short-changed?
Nobody should be offered help, only to be denied it because they can’t afford it!
Payment Options
A huge issue many self-employed claimants face is finding the initial cash flow up-front to pay for a Job Aide, since Access to Work will only pay out for support work in arrears.
The easiest option for those with cashflow is to pay the Job Aide, and then claim the money back from Access to Work. Your Job Aide will be able to help you make your monthly reimbursement claims.
If this puts you in a position of financial hardship, some support workers are willing to invoice Access to Work directly on your behalf. However, this is at the discretion of the Job Aide or work coach.
Frequently Asked Questions
Still not sure? Here are some questions that will put your mind at ease.
What’s your company status?
We aren’t an agency, or even a company. Instead, we are a collective of self-employed freelancers and Community Interest Companies who can offer their exclusive services to support you every step of the way.
You can learn more on our about us page!
What’s the exact process?
First of all, you should have an existing Access to Work claim. If successful, you’ll be asked to provide three quotes. The work required will already be established in your interviews with Access to Work.
Contacting our Aides and Coaches with this information, they’ll confirm whether they can support you or not at this time. If so, you’ll need to send their quotes to Access to Work for them to approve the final award.
Once you receive this approval letter, you’re ready to go!
How does payment work?
Job Aides and Work Coaches traditionally invoice you in advance of the work, just like other freelance work.
At the end of the calendar month, your Job Aide may be able to help you claim this expense back by invoicing Access to Work on your behalf.
However, we understand this can cause cash flow issues for some claimants. Please discuss your situation with any potential Job Aides or Work Coaches.
Please note that work coaches do not offer admin support for assisting with processing claims.
